You are a man. You are stocky, bearded and feel privileged to be the first human ever molded. You are a man. A magnanimous and maverick man. You traverse the earth with goals and dreams which are sometimes as firm as the muscles on your face. No matter how straight that face looks, happiness is is not an unwanted foreign idea to you. You are not made to just exist. You are made to be live and be H.A.P.P.Y. I have taken a look at few happy men around me and from them, I could see the ten commandments of a happy man, which are:

1. Thou shall be connected to your Creator.
Try operating the latest smart TV without instructions from the manufacturer’s manual. Epic fail! To be the man you were meant to be you need to be know your manufacturer, God and operate by His manual for you, The Bible. This is more that a mental appreciation of His existence. It is more than shouting, “Oh God ooo or God ooo!” in the midst of difficulties. Know Him like Abraham “knew” Him. Know His ways. Know Him as a Father. Trust His leadership. Follow His leadership.
Then shall you be a happy man who won’t dance through life like a headless chicken.
2. Thou shalt work, work again, then work some more.
This doesn’t mean you should be a workaholic. Don’t be like Johnny Bosco who only cares about getting things done and joeopardises his health in the process. At the same time, don’t be a Mr. do-nothing. You should wake up each day with a sense of purpose. And oh, it shouldn’t include video games but skills that can make a difference in your life and that of others. When the first man Adam was created, he was put into a garden to look after it.
It is only when you have something you are responsible for that you experience true fulfillment.

3. Thou shalt not be alone.
The holy book says, “it is not good for a man to be alone.” Aloneness is not a good place to be. I have no problem with men who want to stay without a woman as the Biblical Apostle Paul. However, such men are rare.
Having the right companion is a great spice to your life because whoever finds a wife, finds a good thing and obtains favour from the Lord.
4. Thou shalt fulfill thy sensual needs.
Only after you find your wife, your right companion. There is nothing like having a sweet potato at home who makes your heart go bambambum.
Bros, enjoy her. It is your legal right.
5. Thou shalt focus.
My friend, D is the most dreamy person I ever met. He was a car seller, who became a Malta Guinness importer, who aspired to become an oil mogul and sought special prayers from a popular man of God because of the “wealth” God revealed to him in his dreams. Then D saw how much people were making from owning schools and hatched plans to build his own school. Then D saw an opportunity to produce ATM jackets for a bank and hopped right in to prospect. Then D knew a few pieces of land that were up for sale and proclaimed, “I am now into real estate.”
Don’t be like D.

Follow One Course Until Successful.
6. Thou shalt tame thy little man.
Though sex will make you happy, it should be be within the confines of marriage. When your little man, “wanders” into places it shouldn’t visit, be prepared to handle the baggage that comes with it. The baggage comes in the form of guilt, Sexually Transmissible Diseases, shortened life, baby mama drama, wife and side chick fights, loss of respect from children, etc
A happy man is one that knows how to zip it up and keep it down.
7. Thou shalt exercise thy body.
Why would a man be walking about with a 6 month pregnancy aka pot belly? Why would a man be breathing as though he just finished a marathon race meanwhile he only walked from the car to the house? Bros, don’t sit at home drinking mimbo and swallowing huge chunks of meat. Get into the field and play some football, tennis or whatever. Do whatever you can to move that body and sweat it out.
Physical exercise has been proven to improve overall well-being.
8. Thou shalt make thy woman happy.
This one is for my married brethren. Have you ever heard this statement, “happy wife, happy life?” So true! Do sweet little things to make your madame happy. Watch her give it back to you double fold.
Except your wife is the witch of mandogashumu.
But I’m sure she’s no witch.
9. Thou shalt not drink or smoke.

I remember how my Religious Studies teacher in secondary school bragged to us in his thick bold accent, “I dan’t drink, I dan’t smoke, I dan’t go outta wit gehs”. While we laughed at his manner of delivering his “My 3 core life values speech,” these points make a lot of sense. Bros, booze and smoke are as ugly as they sound.
10. Thou shalt give back.

A beautiful life is a one that gives back. It could be volunteering or something. Find a way to invest your time, treasure and talents for others. The fulfillment that comes from giving back to others is priceless.
Men in the house, what other “commandments” make you happy?

  1. This is the altimate Ten Commandments for Men, an I am going to start putting this into practice. But one little problem, what if you had two wives and treated them like this commandments instructs are these ladies too going allow peace to reign? So can you also try to advice our sisters who find themselves in polygamy to allow peace to reign or just move out if they don't like the lifestyle? For it is a lifestyle like any other (gay, lesbian bi-sexual etc)
