1tablespoongranulated sugarcould add more if you wish
½teaspoon salt
¾cupwhole milk
1large egg
¼teaspoonvanilla extract
2Tablespoonsmelted butterplus more for frying the pancakes
Instructions
In a medium whisking bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Make a well in the middle and add the milk, egg, vanilla extract, and melted butter. Whisk together until just combined.
Let the batter rest for about 5 minutes. This helps the gluten relax. Then, pour the mixture into a piping bag or ziploc/sandwich bag. If you have a piping bag or bottle, used in decorating cakes, by all means, use it.
Create a small hole about the size of the tip of a marker at the sharp end of the bag. Heat a skillet on medium heat and butter it up. Then, put your bag over the skillet and draw the outline of a heart. Fill the outline quickly with enough batter to create a heart. Let it cook until bubbles form on top, about 3 minutes. Then flip it to the other side and let it cook until done. At the sharp end of the bag, create a small hole about the size of the tip of a marker. Heat a skillet on medium heat and butter it
Serve warm with fresh fruit and some maple syrup or dusted with powdered sugar.
Notes
Add chocolate chips: Consider adding mini chocolate chips to the batter for chocolatey pancakes.
Add fruits: Consider adding fruits like blueberries to the batter for fruity pancakes.
Whole wheat flour: Swap the all-purpose flour for more wholesome whole wheat flour.
