This is my motto: A failed child indicates a failed parent. The only true success in life for a parent is the success of the children and this does not depend on financial status (on the contrary, many children of wealthy families are "spoiled"). This depends on the SELF DISCIPLINE of the parents themselves. I will refer to a post I read some time back which said that every problem in the house can be traced back to a failure on the part of the head of the house.
Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it Pr. 22:6
Chasten thy son while there is hope, and let not thy soul spare for his crying. Pr 19:18
He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes. Pr 13:24
Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him. Pr 22:15
Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die. Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell. Pr 23:13-14

Awwww. He writes so well but I can differentiate you two. He writes like a man if that makes any sense. Matter of fact, and straight to the point.
Your kids had better write well too when they grow since they have double gene portion lol.
I think your kids wIll grow up to have good heads in their shoulders what with God fearing parents like you two. Bringing them up the godly way is obviously important to him as seen from his post, and his practical advice also make sense .
I like the fact about them doing all the things you do from watching you.
America or not, Good parents make good children = Good society.

S2C, I agree with you. Straight to the point. No beating around the bush like me. Lol
Bringing them up the godly way is the most important thing to us because God's way is the best, right? Despite the changes in our world today the word of God never changes.
Thanks for your kind words, sweetie. Hope you are good?

Great write up. He has valid points. Children at this age are like sponges, they absorb everything. So it is truly very important to mind what they are exposed t.. You both will be best sellers when u start publishing your books. WelIdone Mr N, waiting to read more. God bless

Man know thy self as in two become one. He writes in a straight matter of fact way and raises very VALID points. Ode to A kids and YES to old fashioned parenting... it keeps kids grounded and away from adulthood wahala in future. I agree on him being a valued contributor to the blog.

Hi dear, I really can't tell you how exactly you can punish your child. You just have to know that child and discipline him/her out of love and not anger. And also don't overdo it.
Thank you for stopping by!

This is just brilliant. Thanks Mr N. And thanks Presh for sharing. I love the part about not telling your child sweet lies.Growing up, I remember being told by my mom that on Carol nights, Angels flew from door to door to sing. I never saw one and kept asking why I never saw them. She said they always come when I am asleep. Lol. When I found out it wasn't true, I questioned my whole reality as a kid. Lol. Funny but not funny.

Those sweet lies can destabilise us when we get to learn the truth. It is easy to take for granted but a lie is still a lie.
Thanks for always stopping by, dear!
