THE DAY THE PREACHER LIED

We followed the staircase down into the visually impressive church filled with anticipation. Sister B and I were intrigued to attend worship service in a new environment in Nigeria. We settled into our seats quickly and faithfully responded to every aspect of the service. As usual, my eyes wondered about, creating some acquaintance with the place.
We danced along though a tad conservatively since we were new in the place. A few extroverted church members were having the time of their lives as they took the front section of the church and amused everyone with their ‘churchy’ dance steps. Some of their faces danced (with smiles and expressions) more than their bodies.
He went further to say how bishops were treated as governors in Cameroon. Ahhh! Pentecostal bishops? Treated as governors in Cameroon? Meanwhile, in Cameroon at the time, the only recognised Bishop was Cardinal Tumi. And he wasn’t a pentecostal. He was a Roman Catholic.
If Bishop M were as famous as he claimed, couldn’t we have known him or even heard of him? He further said his wife drove a Prado- a woman who looked like she had been starved for days. And no, this is not a brilliant use of literary phrases. She seriously looked emaciated. I wondered how she sat in that chair comfortable with all the lies just like I often wonder how wives of lying pastors feel.
The Nigerians who were not in the know as we were, totally believed him, admired him and even Coupé-Décaléed along with him.
“For you are the children of your father the devil, and you love to do the evil things he does. He was a murderer from the beginning. He has always hated the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and the father of lies” John 8: 44
Till date, I regret the fact that I didn’t take that bold step of speaking to Bishop M. I saw how much he was revered and I withdrew. I didnt want to be termed a “bad belle” person. As Christians, sometimes we need to speak the truth live and direct, politely and in love. After all, open rebuke is better than hidden love (Proverbs 27:5).
One time too many, I have watched untruths slide with ease from the mouths of supposed men of God. Take for instance an “award winning” testimony, which I have heard pastors narrate umpteen times. Here is how it goes:
“There was a sister in my church who had been married for (insert number) years. She came to me and said, “man of God, pray for me.” I prayed for her and she got pregnant with twins! After that, she got pregnant again with twins. The third time, she got pregnant again with twins! Then she told me, “man of God please tell God to stop. The blessing is too much!”
Friend, does this story sound familiar to you? So all these different men of God who have told the story were used by God to perform this exact specific miracle? Liar liar pants on fire!
Don’t get me wrong. God is a miracle worker, mountain mover and earth shaker. But we do not have to ‘help’ him with our lies. Just because you heard a story somewhere and it sounded good doesn’t mean you should fit yourself into a scene. That’s just like photoshopping yourself into a private jet. Saah!
I hear a lot of pastors narrate great things that happened when they were in say, Njinikejem. But when they are right ahead of you, those things don’t happen. Why? Stop creating and amplifying stories, to impress people, men of God!
Imagine Jesus standing in front of blind Bartimaeus saying, “The other day eh, I met a dead girl. Everyone was crying they were sad but I raised her up!” No, he didn’t do that. He just went ahead to perform the miracle. Stop telling myriads of stories to gain fame. In a multitude of words, sin is not lacking, says Proverbs 10:19.
To all of us, preacher or not, we should avoid lies telling like a plague. Look at what Proverbs 6: 16-19 says:
There are six things the Lord hates—
no, seven things he detests:
17 haughty eyes,
a lying tongue,
hands that kill the innocent,
18 a heart that plots evil,
feet that race to do wrong,
19 a false witness who pours out lies,
a person who sows discord in a family.
Did you see that lying is mentioned twice? This is a serious issue. God abhors lies-telling. Some people go as far as classifying some lies as “white lies”. Whether white, red, blue, green or purple, a lie is a lie. I wonder where Bishop M is today. But if I ever see him again, I will look into his face and say, “you lied.”
If you are guilty of lying to others and even to yourself, take a moment and ask God for forgiveness. Scripture says if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us. (1 John 1:9)
“Telling the truth and making someone cry is better than telling a lie and making someone smile.”

These men have similar traits: they push you to fall in the name of anointing, create fear by telling you of family problems and demand money.
The gospel of Christ is not about these things. It is about telling people of God's love and reminding them that their eternal destiny could be in heaven or in hell. This is a total loss of focus.

Pride is a bad thing, my dear. That's why scripture says God resists the proud.
Who is really their god The truth is some of these men are not known by God.
“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

My sister, Patty imagine how arrogant some of these men can be… telling your husband not to touch him and all that. Where is the Christ-likeness in this?
We really need the spirit of discernment these days so we don't fall prey to fey men masquerading as pastors.

In May,my family and I went to visit some family members in Maryland .when we got there, we realized that the Man of the house was not there.He had been busy all week long because a Man of God was visiting from Cameroon. The next day,we were expecting the father of the house to come back but he sent word that we should meet him at church.we went to that church around 5 only to return around 11pm because there was word of prophecy session…..and there were othe r people who had to see the man of God later and given that we had to spend the night in the same house where h e was lodge, we had to wait for that long.For some reason while he was giving word of knowledge didn't feel comfortable I am sure he really he noticed and ask that I come forward to be prayed for.when I went forward he asked why I was shy and h e laid his h and on my head and pushed me to the floor. …all I cared during the prayer was my wig…please don't get me wrong I have been prayed for many times but this time around something didn't seem right.we all went home and we had to leave for our state in the morning.so the father of the house was surprised that we didn't want to take the opportunity of the presence of a MOG….he was surprised when we told him all we needed was prayer for journey mercies….but the Man of God sent for us.He started praying for my husband. .. when I came in I saw my husband on the floor ….then he told me God h as just delivered my husband from the poison h e ate in his dream…for some reason I started telling him about my family. …he said my family compound needs deliverance and for that we need 4 bottles of anointing oil and some holy water from the synagogue church and transportation fare to go to my house in Cmr….that would have costed at least $300. I took the Man of God's contact bUT to say t h e least, I was broken in my spirit and did not mention what happened at that ho u se to anyone.To my greatest surprise, after more t h an 2 months, my husband asked jokingly if i had alread sent the money to the Man of God for my famity deliverance….he went further to say h e may be a true Man of God but h is prophecy on that day was not for everybody. …thats when he told me that when the man of God started praying for him, he pushed him down as though it was the anointing and gave a false word of knowledge that my husband's family had a marital issue. …that my sisters in law cannot stay fo r long in their marriage and that there is a spirit behind that….the truth is that i have 4 sisters in laws who are all married…in fact the yongest h as been married for 10 years. ..I think it's time these men of God stay quiet if they don't have something to say than to lie in the name of God.Excuse me for this long comment.
Auntie Pre, thanks for delivering another powerful one. A lie is a cankerworm, we say one and then we find the need to build a chain of liars to keep covering as we go. Da pastor sef need deliverance from pride because na pride make yi start lie all da unnecessary things to impress people who didn't really have to know to begin with.
Some People fighting to be recognized by others. They think the best way is to lie. Some pastors/people do this everyday and I I bet you when they sit in their little rooms they cry every day. Some people have scattered/destroyed families with lies using the Name of God. I pray Holy spirit arrest some these liars before raft of God fall on them
Personally I have lived in same house and still living with this so call sis in law who looks at me in the eyes and lie about me to my husband sending all sort of text messages lying that GOD showed her this or that that am doing just with purpose to separate us

Well watched g popular pastor lie to another man of God. And the man of God smirked. I knew the man of God discern it was a lie. He even had to cut him short with his lies.
Yes, in my quest to grow more in the word. I came across lying pastors and questionable powers. I was confused with some things they said contrary to the word. I called God a liar. Then the truth of the lying pastors started being exposed. Bottom line is who are these Pastors god?
What I learned is using wisdom. Not emotions. If God has personally given you the mandate to expose. You will know and expose. If God hasn't given you. Please only pray and use wisdom to exit.
Most of them you don't know where they get their powers from. From a god you notice they lie a lot. For the devil is the father of lies.
Those who are not prayerful or lack knowledge of the word easily fall in their web.
Never blame the victims because they use the same manipulation a lot of repented manipulators have confessed. People have written books about their journey to Christ.
Fame and greed where is your sting!

When they are guest in other churches they feel intimidated and insecure. They start saying things.
That's a flag right there
They are all humans.
During Paul time he wrote about these same things, Jesus Christ also told us this will come, Jesus Christ also flogged people out of Church.
So all these things are not new.
What maters is having Christ as your personal Lord.
May God help men of God ohh. this is too serious to joke with. one guest pastor visited a church I was going to and made a false prophecy on me. when he got to my husband he told him no don't touch me. he felt embarrassed and told the pastor that no one ever treated him like that. when the pastor told my husband, he told the pastor that he deserves to be stoned according to the Bible for giving a false prophecy. May God open our eye to discern these false men of God . we are living in the last days.

Nelo, you have asked an important question. Why was he supposed to tell us about his wife's Prado? How is that even relevant to the gospel of Christ?
I hate it when people try to stop us from questioning these things. Those men are not immune to sin.

I laughed but at the same time I was sad because this is not the church Christ died for… sad to say pentecostalism has failed! Sister Presh! Abeg tell them. Besides why did the pastor feel the need to tell the world that his wife drives a Prado. But I guess he knows many are easily impressed. The worst part is when you try to get people to open their eyes to the lies and they say silly things like "don't question the man of God's anointing'. It is well. "Then you will know the truth, and the truth will you set you free" John 8:32
