If you love groundnuts you wouldย loooove Peanut Burger Snack. This is a snack made by coating groundnuts otherwise known as peanuts with flour and other ingredients.
Oh my! Does deliciousness come any better than this? Peanut Burger is so crunchy, slightly sweet, nutty and so addicting!

Warning: these little balls of food ecstasy won’t last long after you make them. You might start making them every week! I’m not complaining, though.
Peanut Burger Snack in a bowl
Peanut Burger is a well-known snack in Nigeria and Ghana. I first fell in love with the commercial brand version in Nigeria. I could never get enough of it.
It was fast gaining popularity in Cameroon before I left. It is colloquially called “peanuts” there. I could see it in so many stores and snack stands.
I don’t know if that is still the case. Are “Peanuts” still so popular in pays? Please let me know below if you are in Cameroon right now.
So a while ago I got a couple of requests to do a recipe for this. I was mad at myself for not making this in a long time… over two years! Why Precious, why??? I repent.
Making Peanut Burger Snack could be time-consuming but it is quite easy and the taste pays for the time. I promise.
All you need is some raw peanuts. Then you coat the peanuts with some flour, eggs, sugar salt and nutmeg if you like. Viola, peanut burger!

This is a snack made by coating raw groundnuts/peanuts with flour then deep frying. It is very tasty and "peanutty".
Prep: 30 minutes
Cook: 20 minutes
Total: 50 minutes
Servings: 24 pieces

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of flour (250 grams)
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/3 cup of sugar (66.7 grams)
  • 2 cups of raw groundnuts aka peanuts
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg optional
  • A pinch of salt
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  • Put your groundnuts in a bowl and select to take out all the bad ones.
  • Mix together flour, baking powder, nutmeg and salt and set aside.
  • Beat eggs together with sugar in another bowl.
  • Pour a little of the egg mixture over the groundnuts. Shake bowl until mixture coats all the groundnuts.
  • Sprinkle some of the flour mixture over the groundnuts and shake.
  • Repeat 4 and 6 above until groundnuts are completely coated with flour. If some stick together, use your fingers to separate them and keep going.
  • Heat oil on medium heat and fry in batches until golden brown.
  • Allow to cool completely then you can serve or store in an airtight container.

Notes

It is okay to have some flour at the base of your bowl when coating the groundnuts. Make sure you separate the nuts from the flour before frying.

  1. Thankz u precious i ave been looking for dis type of write-up kudos to u(weldone). My question goes thus, (a)Is there are machine u can use 4 peanut burger? (b) can will use fried/roasted peanut?(c) which vegetable oil is preferable to use. Thankz u alot

    1. Hi Adebayo,
I’m glad the post is helpful to you. To answer your questions:
a.) I have never heard of a machine that could be used in making these.
b.) You should use raw peanuts. The roasted ones may burn when deep-fried
c.) Just any vegetable oil will do. Personally, I would use canola oil since it is healthier and has no strong smell.

      Hope these answers help.

  2. thanks precious, got what i have been looking for,am about trying my own, will give you feedback on how it turns when am done, thanks again name sake

  3. Hello Precious, thanks for this recipe. Didn’t know baking powder too could be used. I do mine with solid milk like Nido .i.e 2 cups of groundut : 2 level table spoons of milk. What is the disadvantage of using milk as part of the mixture?? Thanks

  4. even wen i add egg flour etc repeatedly it sticks to the basin not the peanut leaving rhe peanut with thin layer urs looks chubby thats what i love to achieve

    1. Hi Elvis, sorry for the late response. It’s normal for some of your egg/flour to stick to the bottom of the bowl. When this happens, use a spoon to scoop it so it can coat to the peanuts. Please watch the video to see how I do it.

  5. hello ma i don’t understand what u mean by increase the flour egg and sugar,do u mean i do it repeatedly or what??

  6. please precious thqnks for your blog God bless u real good .i tried the peanut burger but i discouver after frying the burger smell groundnut geoundnut i dont think thqts normal pls how can i solve this problem and alos it does not coat thickly

    1. Hi Elvis, did you follow the exact measurements? Looks like your coating wasn’t thick enough. I would say increase the flour, egg and sugar.

      1. Yes you could add both, dear. If you want to add liquid milk, reduce the eggs. But I’ve never made it with milk so not sure how it will turn out.
