Easy Dinner Rolls

Sometimes you just need to make Easy Dinner Rolls in one hour! These rolls are ridiculously easy to make and out of this world good! They are soft, fluffy, buttery and I insist that you must try one warm!
Prep: 10 minutes
Cook: 20 minutes
Rising Time: 30 minutes
Total: 1 hour
Servings: 12 rolls

Ingredients

  • 12 oz evaporated milk (354 ml or 1 can) sub with 1 1/2 cups whole milk, slightly warmed (110 degrees Fahrenheit)
  • 1 tablespoon instant yeast
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 4 cups all purpose flour (500 grams)
  • More butter for greasing pan
  • 1 egg for egg wash

Instructions

  • Pour milk into a large mixing bowl. Note that I didn't warm my milk in the video but you could slightly warm the milk to be lukewarm (about 110 degrees Fahrenheit) to help activate the yeast. If you use instant yeast, it will still activate if you use room temperature milk. But warm the milk to speed things up.
  • To the milk, add the sugar, salt, melted butter and egg. Whisk well to combine.
  • Add in the flour and mix using a wooden spoon until all the liquid is absorbed then continue mixing using your hands until combined. Dough will be sticky and that's okay.
  • Generously flour a working surface. Transfer the dough unto the floured surface and fold in 2-3 times so it's easier to cut. Cut the dough into 12 equal pieces.
  • To cut the dough into 12 equal pieces, first cut the dough into 2 equal pieces then cut each piece into 2 to make 4 equal pieces. Further cut each of the 4 pieces into 3 equal pieces and you will have 12 pieces.
  • Generously rub butter all over a 9 by 13 inch baking dish.
  • Form each piece of dough into a ball and place on the baking dish.
  • Cover the rolls with a clean kitchen towel and place in a warm place to rise. Let them rise until doubled in size. About 30 minutes.
  • About the last 5 minutes of the dough rising, preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (180 degrees C).
  • Beat an egg and brush all over the risen rolls.
  • Place the rolls in the oven to bake until golden brown. About 20 minutes.

Notes

1. I love using evaporated milk in baked goods because it has a rich flavor!
2. The all-purpose flour could be replaced with bread flour.
